Drones & Payloads

Professional-grade UAV technology has revolutionized surveying in the last decade. Fixed-wing or Multirotor solutions introduce speed, accuracy, and safety to quantitative surveying tasks around inaccessible or precarious job sites.

Both fixed-wing and multirotor solutions are available at Cansel with various purchase options. You can also engage our professional services team in a proof-of-concept exercise to use any of our UAV solutions on a real job. Both technologies can cover up to a square kilometre in 60 minutes and provide millions of points to complete your topographic analysis, volume calculation, as well as provide an environmental survey of your site.

Fixed-wing or multirotor?

Most fixed-wing drones available on the market will offer between one and two hours of flight time, compared to 30-45 minutes for quadcopters. Fixed-wing drones are therefore able to cover more area with one flight, thus allowing you to collect data on a large area (quarry, road, etc.) in a single flight. The multirotor system may require more missions to complete the same survey.

Multirotor and Versatility

With field-swappable payloads, multirotor offer the ability to go from one payload to another in minutes. There are also more available options for payloads on multirotor than on fixed-wing systems.

UAV-based LiDAR systems have gained popularity in the surveying industry because of their accuracy and reduced processing time. However, the biggest efficiency gain is the ability to penetrate vegetation to get readings on the original ground. The LiDAR solutions offered by Cansel provide a streamlined workflow to generate colourized, accurate point clouds - immediately after post-flight.
